Where ever you go these days in the world of Eve-Online, be it blogs, reviews, the eve forums, FailHeap, anywhere really, everyone from my nan to your dog are calling themselves "BitterVets".
Well, I'm going to buck the trend!
I... am a HappyVet!
I've been playing Eve-Online since release way back in 2003. For those with aversions to maths at this time of night that’s a whopping 8 and half years! I mean srsly?! who plays a video game for 8.5 years!? I'm that guy you meet in a TS or Mumble some-place sat in the corner with a pint of mild going:
"When I was a wee laddie I used to camp the jump-in spot at planets in my torpedo blackbird that had no tank and only a point an ECM in the mids ganking all the noobs headed for Lokta Voltera space..."
or maybe...
"... and we mined solidly for 3 weeks to buy my first battle ship, a beaut she w're, Armageddon with 8 heat-sinks and a full rack of modulated heavy pulses!"
But more recently I've found myself saying things more like:
"There was this EPIC fight in Heyd the other night against Gal-Fed and there were 200 in local and only 30 of em were us and they got spanked!! EPIC!!"
And THAT is why I'm a HappyVet. Because EVERY time I log into Eve I not only get to play to best space MMO on the planet, kill people just for “lolz and tears” but I also get to fight alongside (and more often than not, against) some of the most engaging, interesting and knowledgeable people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.
So this blog is going to be about Eve-Online. But not just about Eve, but about what makes Eve epic for me and you. I'll be discussing and thinking aloud about all the technical, political, social and most importantly, fun aspects of our favourite MMO in a (hopefully) thought-provoking and trend-bucking way.
I'm going to try and post ever-other day about the most recent topics in the Eve universe but also about my life in low-sec as a pirate. Over the next few posts however I'm going to try and post a few of my thoughts and perspectives on recent events so you can get to know me better.
